Joypurhat, Bangladesh — In a significant effort to combat food insecurity, Action and Light, a research-based non-governmental volunteer organization, has extended its “Gnyati Gola” community food bank initiative to the marginalized communities of Zamalpur Union in Sadar Upazila, Joypurhat district.
The “Gnyati Gola” program, launched on January 24, 2025, aims to establish traditional village community food banks to bolster food security and promote solidarity among communities. By setting up food banks in areas like Suktahar and Dhuatar, the initiative has been instrumental in providing essential food supplies to those in need.
In Zamalpur Union, the distribution drive focused on delivering staple food items to underprivileged families, ensuring they have access to necessary nutrition. This endeavor not only addresses immediate hunger but also fosters a sense of community and mutual support among residents.
Action and Light’s commitment to social welfare is evident through its various programs, including the “Gnyati Gola” initiative, which continues to make a positive impact on the lives of many in Joypurhat and beyond.
