Joypurhat, November 26, 2024 – The Library of Action and Light has enriched the collection of the Government District Public Library of Joypurhat by presenting two significant books focusing on militancy and local history. The handover ceremony took place at the library premises, where Dr. Sazzadul Bari, Chairman of Action and Light, personally delivered the books to the library’s head librarian Morsheda Binte Mamun.
The donated books include Threads of Extremism by Dr. Sazzadul Bari, which explores the roots and complexities of militancy, and Porosmoni: The Life and Activities of Pir Kazemuddin R. by Abdul Gani Mandal, a detailed account of the contributions of the revered local Sufi saint, Pir Kazemuddin. The latter work sheds light on the spiritual and social legacy of a prominent figure deeply embedded in the region’s history.
The event underscored the importance of preserving local history and fostering awareness about the challenges posed by extremism. Dr. Bari emphasized the need for libraries to act as centers of knowledge and dialogue, stating, “These books aim to enlighten minds and inspire critical thinking about both global and local issues.”
The librarian of the Joypurhat District Public Library expressed gratitude for the donation, noting that the addition of these works would not only benefit researchers and historians but also help promote a deeper understanding of Joypurhat’s cultural and historical roots.
The initiative reflects the Library of Action and Light’s ongoing commitment to contributing to intellectual and social development through education and literature.
