Action and Light successfully organized a River Justice Boat March on 24 July 2026, covering the Tulshiganga, Chhoto Jamuna, and Atrai rivers from Akkelpur Upazila in Joypurhat District to Kalikapur Union of Atrai Upazila in Naogaon District. The initiative aimed to raise public awareness about river conservation, biodiversity protection, and sustainable environmental stewardship.
The event brought together concerned citizens, researchers, environmental activists, and members of the of Action and Light, who collectively demonstrated their commitment to protecting Bangladesh’s river ecosystems.
During the boat march, participants conducted field observations to assess the current condition of the rivers, documenting issues such as water pollution, habitat degradation, biodiversity loss, riverbank erosion, and the socio-economic challenges faced by riverside communities. The observations will contribute to future research and advocacy efforts on river conservation.
As part of the campaign, awareness leaflets on river and nature conservation were distributed among local riverside residents, encouraging greater community participation in protecting rivers and promoting environmentally responsible practices.
Action and Light believes that safeguarding rivers is essential for ensuring ecological balance, protecting biodiversity, strengthening climate resilience, and securing sustainable livelihoods for future generations.
